FREE SEMINARS - VERY POPULAR
The free seminars hosted by the Association in Sydney were very popular with a wide variety of information shared. Delegates were most interested in the pending changes to forklift licencing when the new WHS commences in 2012. Steve Hughes had a very detailed presentation. The removal of many licence classes generated a good deal of discussion. The VOC presentation discussed the the process and benefits to employers. Peter Blayney was very knowledgable about the legislative requirements and process to follow. The benefits of using a warehouse management system (WMS) with graphical charts reinforced the types of reports available and flow on effects. Dave Greenfield had many questions after his presentation for delegates.
The Wednesday seminars covered storage systems and the strategic decisions to be made. This covered both greenfield and brownfiels sites and the issues if the correct planning is not done. Dangeroud good storage and handling wasa hot topic with lots of new requiremnts and strategies to manage them. The draft ADG code edition 8 is under review and will be relased after industry consultation. delegates stayed around for over 40 minutes after the presentation asking questions. This format proved a winner and the Association will now plan for 2012.
